Come Here Often?

For an online event called Mermay, where artists are challenged to draw mermaids during the month of May, I had challenged myself to draw a mermaid in the art style of comic artist Yehuda Devir.

Whether or not I was entirely successful, the result is certainly stylistically striking and creates wonderful visual movement with the mermaid's tale. I researched how pearls particularly shine to represent realistic lighting and ditched my usual cell shading and color-picked each hue's shadow tint. 

 

From completing this illustration, I definitely improved and expanded my illustration knowledge.
